CHASING AFTER THE
HEART OF GOD
After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything
I want him to do.’ Acts 13:22
40 Days of Prayer
"For forty days the Philistine came forward every morning and evening and took his stand." I Samuel 17:16
So shall we take a stand against our Philistines!
Daily prayer time is vital if you want to defeat the Philistines (Goliaths) in your life. Prayer is the only way to know the Father’s heart, which should be our ultimate desire. During your 40-Day Breakthrough Prayer you will commit to sixty minutes of prayer each day.
Each day you will be provided a verse of Scripture to direct your prayer. Praying with Scripture is one of the most powerful ways to pray. You are using God’s words which are more powerful than any of your own. Use the exact wording of the verse, and add your name as you pray.
The spiritual practice of fasting can transform your prayer life. It is a gift from God meant to grow us and draw us into a deepening relationship with him. Most people choose to feed their fleshly desires instead of their spiritual ones. When we fast we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us instead of those fleshly desires.
Fasting was an expected practice in both the old and New Testament. For example, Moses fasted for at least two record 40 day periods. Jesus fasted 40 days and reminded his followers to fast. He said, “When you fast, “not, “if you fast” Matthew 6:16.
During our 40-day break through prayer you will be encouraged to abstain from one meal once every 10 days, Fasting is not simply skipping a meal. Instead of eating you will spend that time in prayer, being attentive to what God is doing in, around and through you.
